The importance of strategic estate planning
In addition to bequeathing property to your loved ones upon your death, a strategic estate plan should provide for:
- Long-term care of minor children and dependent family members
- Tax deductions during your lifetime
- Reduction in estate tax obligations
- Succession plans for family businesses
- Preservation of your assets
- Ownership and use of real property
- Support of your favorite charities
- Continued care of your pet
We thoroughly assess your family circumstances, finances and ultimate objectives and we design a tailored estate plan that suits your individual needs and goals.
Why create an advance directive?
If you become incapacitated, your doctors and loved ones should attempt to act in concert with your wishes. However, your desires are not always known and may leave family members uncertain and confused about how to honor your intentions. An advance directive — also referred to as a living will — provides clear instruction on which types of life-sustaining treatments you want should you no longer be able to speak for yourself. You can also name a surrogate who makes important medical and financial decisions if illness or injury renders you unable to do so.
